The best and worst things of life on a Glasgow estate are observed in this raw drama. Joe (Peter Mullan) is out of work, a recovering alcoholic and the manager of the area's worst football team. Joe is all thumbs when it comes to a relationship with health visitor Sarah (Louise Goodall) until they are thrown together as lovers after she's locked out of her flat. Mullan is extremely engaging in Ken Loach's involving film, one of this fine British director's best.
