This movie version of Mary Norton's children's classic will charm children and adults alike. It features three fine comedy players: Jim Broadbent and Celia Imrie as the father and mother of the four-inch famly who live under the floorboards (shades of eco-warriors) and John Goodman, as the deliciously named Ocious Potter (presumably related to the grasping Potter from It's a Wonderful Life), the scheming lawyer who wants to demolish the borrowers' home. It's a sweet, old-fashioned story with delightful excitements and its mood and tone is perfectly preserved. The gift-wrapped package comes with gorgeous cinematography and seamless visual effects.
