A bitter tale of a dysfunctional family's Thanksgiving reunion, in which each family member has some grievance or chip on their shoulder. However, there are no dramatic developments or sudden skeletons tumbling out of cupboards in Festen style. Instead we observe some well-structured scenes involving, among others, ER's Noah Wyle, Michael Vartan and his girlfriend Hope Davis, a grumpy Julianne Moore and parents Roy Scheider and Blythe Danner. Humour and discomfort blend well in this convincingly acted think-piece.
