Splendidly imaginative, extremely hard-hitting British portmanteau movie, based on the works of the author of Trainspotting, Irvine Welsh. The Edinburgh estates settings won't appeal to American visitors or the Scottish Tourist Board, but this is a film made with guts, flair and imagination. Pick of the trilogy: Maurice Roëves as a hard-drinking God, who turns a loser (Stephen McCole) into a fly who can exact his revenge on life. Not exactly ordinary stuff, this, it didn't do too well in cinemas, but now has a chance to connect with a wider audience. It's very in-your-face, both with its language and drug references.
