David Caesar
Born: Moruya, Australia
Australian director Caesar's breakthrough movie was the gangster comedy Dirty Deeds, starring Bryan Brown and John Goodman.
Prior to that he had received attention for quirky Mullet and Idiot Box, starring Ben Mendelsohn and Jeremy Sims.
Brought up on a dairy farm, he began making Super-8mm films while at school, before working in menial jobs in the Sydney film industry.
His short, No More Heroes, landed him at place at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, where he made the successful short Shoppingtown.
Upon graduation he worked for companies including ABC and the BBC, and also directed rock videos for Ed Kuepper and The Clouds.
His first feature was Greenkeeping, starring the comedian Mark Little, before he wrote and directed Idiot Box.
