A French romance in Lyon set against World War Two, this tale, based on a true story stars Carole Bouquet as pregnant Lucie and Daniel Auteuil (in a very low-key performance) as her Resistance-member husband, whom she has to rescue from prison before the Gestapo can kill him.
Directed by Claude Berri, this sounds as though it has great potential. However, the film is strangely flat.
The acting is solid enough and the movie is well composed visually (although there are an awful lot of dimly lit interiors), but with minimum dialogue and action - and sparing use of music - it doesn't capture the emotions in the way such a story should.
Still, if you enjoy French romances you may wish to give this one a try. Just don't expect too much.
