The luminous Juliette Binoche lands a peach of a part as real-life 19th-century writer George Sand in a beautifully realised version of her mad love for the young poet Alfred de Musset (the equally handsome Benoit Magimel). A wonderfully glossy chocolate-box of a movie, with passionate performances dizzyingly conveying the pain of doomed love.
