Troy Garity
Born: July 7 1973
Where: Los Angeles, California
The grandson of screen legend Henry Fonda and son of two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda, Garity's breakthrough role came in Bandits.
His mum opted not to saddle him with her well-known surname, hoping it would allow him to develop his own individuality.
He spent his childhood summers performing at the Laurel Springs Camp for the Arts in Santa Barbara.
In 1993, he moved to New York to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and headed back to LA three years later to pursue a career.
Almost immediately, he landed a role in The Cherokee Kid and secured his first big screen gig a year later with a small part in Conspiracy Theory.
His first major film role seemed like a natural choice; he portrayed his father, Tom Hayden, in Steal This Movie, a film about Abbie Hoffman starring Vincent D'Onofrio and Janeane Garofalo.
His breakthrough part came in 2001 in the crime comedy Bandits, when he played the well-meaning but comically dumb getaway driver to Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton's crooks.
In 2002, he appeared in Barbershop alongside Ice Cube and then reprised his role for the sequel 2 years later, in Barbershop 2: Back In Business.
He also appeared in the independent feature Milwaukee, Minnesota and the action caper After The Sunset with Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek.
