The Oscar-winning film-maker landed a box office smash with his animated feature debut Ice Age.
A graduate in computer graphics from Ohio State University, Wedge began his career as a stop-motion animatorand went on to work on Disney's Tron.
His 1998 short - Bunny - won an Oscar and boasted the revolutionary computer programme radiosity.
As a creative supervisor, he worked on the features Alien Resurrection, A Simple Wish and Star Trek Insurrection as well as numerous commercials.
He made his feature debut with the Oscar-nominated Ice Age, which featured the voices of John Leguizamo and Denis Leary.
In 2005, he made the animated feature Robots featuring the voices of Halle Berry and Ewan McGregor.
