This Oscar-winning movie deserves its reputation as one of the most famous of all the celebrated MGM musicals. When Ann Miller walks out on her song-and-dance partner, Fred Astaire, he finds the perfect replacement in unknown café girl Judy Garland. Great Irving Berlin songs - especially the famous 'drum' dance, the Astaire/Garland duet A Couple of Swells, Miller's Shakin' the Blues Away and Fred's Steppin' Out with My Baby - great dancing, great film. It was to have starred Gene Kelly, but he broke his ankle and Astaire was persuaded out of retirement.
