Considering its credentials, and its potentially explosive theme, it's surprising that this is not a more powerful film. Don't blame stars Nathalie Baye, Gérard Depardieu, Carole Bouquet (James Bond's girl from 'For Your Eyes Only') and Bernard Fresson (especially good as a corrupt financier), blame rather an incoherent storyline from Philippe and Francoise Labro with dialogue that never rises above the ordinary. Technicial credits are sharp and glossy, particularly Pascal Marti's photography of plush Paris locations. Depardieu, who also contributed to the script of this lightweight romantic social satire, obviously enjoyed the change of pace from his usual roles, although he doesn't exactly look at home in Armani suits.
