Batman Cast Grows
Neeson and Freeman confirmed in cast, as Caine reveals the franchise is expected to succeed...Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman are to star in the new Batman according to Hollywood showbiz experts Variety.
Batman: Intimidation has already claimed a host of highly talented actors, including Christian Bale as Batman, Katie Holmes and Ireland's Cillian Murphy.
When you consider the shortcomings of the Batman movie series, the most immediate thoughts that spring to mind relate to the casting decisions.
Despite striking gold with Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson and even Michelle Pfeiffer, the producers decided the only way to cover up a rubbish film is to throw more famous faces into the mix than a episode of Celebrity Squares.
So it comes as somewhat of a surprise to learn that the next incarnation of Batman is set to have a cast that is as talented as their pay cheques may indicate.
Neeson is set to play the film's baddie, the bizarrely named Ra's al Ghul, a wealthy international terrorist.
Freeman in the meantime, will play Lucius Fox, the chief executive officer of billionaire Bruce Wayne's Wayne Enterprises.
The movie is to be directed by Christopher Nolan, the genius behind the modern day classic Memento.
Nolan has already convinced Michael Caine to play Batman's butler, Alfred.
Caine revealed exactly how confident the makers are in their new incarnation of the Batman franchise when he told About.Com that he'd signed up to a 3-picture deal.
"I've never had a three picture deal in my life. I feel like a blonde with big boobs. They always get a three picture deal. I never got one, and this is it.
"And I didn't have to screw the producer or nothing. It's a three picture deal and it's great. It's an old age pension for me if it works. I hope the first one's a hit."
The movie is currently in production and due for a release in the summer of 2005.
