If this adaptation of Johann David Wyss's classic novel Swiss Family Robinson seems rushed at times, that's perhaps because this is a feature-length version of what was originally a TV mini-series. Don't expect a thrill-a-minute children's movie - the screenplay treats the book seriously and goes for realism rather than amplifying the action adventure aspects of the plot. But that underrated actor Liam Cunningham is forthright and convincing as the father of the family.
