By-the-book New York divorce lawyer Audrey Woods (Moore)uses the law "not cheap theatrics" to win her cases.

Laidback Irish attorney Daniel Rafferty (Brosnan) opts for the relaxed approach - but he still hasn't let a client down yet.

The two legal eagles find themselves circling one another above the wreckage of the marriage of a rock star and his fashion designer wife.

Serial womanister Thorne Jamison (Michael Sheen) and his long-suffering wife Serena (Posey) both covet the one thing the other wants - a castle in Ireland.

Audrey and Daniel are despatched to the Emerald Isle to work out a deal - but get drunk at the local hop and end up getting married.

This harks back to the romantic comedies of the 1940s and 1950s, which is no bad thing, but sexual politics have moved on since them making this look particularly dated.

Brosnan twinkles winningly enough but the normally unflappable Moore looks at sea playing the sort of role that would have been nailed on for Doris Day.

There are some good lines - when Daniel asks Audrey's surgery-enhanced mum (Frances Fisher)if she really is 56, she replies: "Well, parts of me are."

However, the occasional witticism aside, this never really catches fire and you're left with too much time to ponder the inevitable.

One to get cosy up to with a can of Guinness on a rainy afternoon.

If you are looking for a film with a strong female lead, the odd joke and mistakes we've all made then you will love it. However it will require a huge block of chocolate and a quiet enviroment to fully appreciate it, as male members in the room are most likely to slate it all the way through. To summarise: boy meets girl, girl denies feelings for boy, both get drunk and married in a pub in Ireland while on a job, must pretend to be married so don't screw up careers. Worth a Watch!
