Keeping up with the Joneses
Click on the following links to chart the progress of Indy as he hunts for the lost ark, survives the temple of doom and embarks on a last crusade. Skymovies.com reviewer Rob Daniel has cast his eye over the whip-cracking adventurer's previous outings and gives his verdict.
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK Steven Spielberg re-wrote the blockbuster rule book again with this action adventure masterpiece. Harrison Ford slipped off his Han Solo gun belt and grabbed a rumpled fedora and bullwhip, creating another hero to cherish, while Spielberg and writer Lawrence Kasdan put him on a non-stop rollercoaster of thrills, spills, chills, Nazis, the wrath of God, and snakes? lots of snakes. INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
The second outing for the archaeologist action man sees him in India investigating an ancient cult that has kidnapped local children to dig for precious stones that will control the world. Generally considered the least successful of the Indiana Jones trilogy, Temple of Doom is still fantasy film making of the first order, lacking Raiders' sparkling script but brimming with crowd-pleasing invention.
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
Big screen veteran Sean Connery injects some crusty vigour into Steven Spielberg's action franchise as Indy's pop. In this third outing for the archaeologist adventurer, father and son enter Nazi Germany in pursuit of the Holy Grail. Apparently Spielberg's favourite of the three films, this put the series back on track after Temple of Doom's nastiness.
