The movie Grand Prix has about as much plot as a cold cure advert on TV, but the pairing of movie chase-scene hero John Frankenheimer and chisel-jawed hero James Garner was a winner.
But the unintentional comic relief came in the form of racing legend Graham Hill, father of Damon.
Hill was asked to do little more than walk past the background of various scenes. But, like so many bumbling British sporting heroes, Hill failed to master this exercise and, at one point, the former world champion walked straight into a table.
Given that this made the final cut, one can only assume there were too many takes to bother trying again.
