It was the mind of Tim Burton which helped transform Danny into one of Batman's most bizarre adversaries.

Already standing at an astonishing height for a Hollywood star - 4'11" - Danny got right into character everytime he donned the make-up, and didn't return to normal until the last piece of costume was removed.

"I said to Tim (Burton), 'You know, if I have to suffer in a chair for a few hours putting on this stuff and it helps me find the character, I've got no problem with that.'"
