Creature From The Black Lagoon

Scientists discover a deadly amphibian deep in the Amazon jungle in a monster movie that created quite a stir when it first came out in 1954.

The initial appearance of its monster - one scaly claw clutching at the shore on emergence from the water - is a splendid piece of stage-management by director Jack Arnold (who made Tarantula! in the same period).
